Type: Rhum Agricole
In the heart of the estate of the Marquisate of Santa-Maria, the Espérance distillery, the oldest still in activity in the Guadeloupe island, produces a rum from the freshly cut sugar cane juice coming only from its 70 hectares.
This version, bottled at the natural grade, expresses at its best the rich, complex, dry as well as the velvety character of Karukera. Extremely seductive thanks to its oxygenation and its inebriating scents.
• Color: orange copper with green reflections.
• Nose: broad, powerful. Roasted coffee, macadamia nut underlines its roasted character. This is reinforced by the presence of exotic fruits (passion fruit, mango) and inebriating flowers (honeysuckle, lily). It becomes gradually medicinal (tiger balm, senapism).
• Mouth: firm, rich. The heady flowers occupy the front of the palate. It spreads on sugar cane and black chocolate. Its spices have softened and become dusty (saffron, cumin, ginger). It evolves on pleasant herbaceous (lawn) and floral notes (violet, rose).
• Aftertaste: long, remarkably balanced. Its bitterness is invigorating (ginger root), its acidity is fruity (passion fruit, mirabella), its sugars are caramelized and with praline. It is prolonged with salty notes of blue agave. The empty glass reveals precious wood and essential oils of iris.
