Type: Single Malt Whisky
When East meets West: this Amrut Fusion comes from the blending of two special cuvées from the malt distillery of Bangalore. The first cuvée originates from malted barley harvested at the foot of the Himalayas, while the second one comes from Scottish malted barley dried with peated smoke. Each one is aged for four years at tropical temperatures, speeding the aging the same way like old Rums of Caribbean.
A single malt with a big roundness and peated on average, not cold filtered and bottled at 50%, which recalls some collectors of Speyside!
- Color ; old gold.
- Fragrance: steady and fine. At the beginning honey, sandal and roasted malt. It turns on candied citrus, gingerbread, liquorice and spices (curry).
- Taste: powerful and vivid. Malted barley is very present together with exotic fruits (pineapple, mango). Slightly salted, it turns on green liquorice and intoxicating flowers (lily, gardenia). Light wooden notes, gingerbread.
- Aftertaste: long, it becomes sweet to evoke barley during malting. Notes of salted butter confirm the greasiness. With a full personality, it shows mineral (graphite) spices (pepper, cumin) taste, with the freshness of bergamot and cardamon and finally plants (musk, ivy) notes.
