Region: Scotland - Islay
Type: Single Malt
Located between the Jura and Scarba islands, Corryvreckan (meaning “cauldron of the speckled seas” in Shakespeare language) is the world’s third biggest whirlpool. Behind this strange name an Ardberg whisky is hiding. This is a product that completely fills every step of a single malt production: malting, fermentation and distillation. Right now, the barrels in which it is contained are just enough to make it breathe. It takes a few years to create the wooden notes.
Legend tells that a young Viking, named Breacan, survived 3 days and 3 nights in the Corryvreckan to show his love to the daughter of the Lord of the Island. A very peated style, smoky, salty and malty profile.
Master Tseng said: “It evokes a red tea, slightly smoked, from Fuijan province, Song Yan, because of its dried fruits and fine woods perfumes”.
