Tullamore, the capital of the County of Offaly, is the third largest city in the Midlands, located in the center of Ireland. The name of the city derives from Tulach Mhór which means "big hill", to identify an area surrounded by mountains and peat bogs, in a fertile agricultural area that supplies fine barley and pure water, both essential to the creation of whiskey.
The distillery and the city thrived throughout the first part of the 20th century, under the impetus of the pioneer and innovator Daniel E. Williams - hence the initials D.E.W. - until the closure in '59 and the unification of all the Irish whiskey production under the monopoly of The Irish Distillers Group.
With an epochal changeover, on 17 September 2014 the Tullamore distillery returned to the places of foundation, with the largest investment made in the last century in the Irish Whiskey sector: this is the final celebration for 185 years of history started with the creation of an Irish triple distilled blended, in a small Tullamore distillery now grown big.
Distillates have different alcoholpercentages. So, we have defined a parameter allowing you to better understand and compare different prices. This parameter is calculated by dividing the bottle price by the alcohol content. The alcohol content (or strength) is the amount of pure alcohol (ethanol) contained in the distillate.
This parameter indicates the price of a single 4cl dosage of distillate. It is calculated by dividing the price of the bottle by its quantity (expressed in cl), then multiplying by the centilitres of the recommended single dose, as average in cocktail recipes.
