Lagavulin

Scotland - Islay

Lagavulin is one of the three Kildalton distilleries in the south of the Islay and is located at Hollow by the Mill, translated from the Gaelic a'mhuilin. The distillery officially dates back to 1816, although the documents show an illicit distillation on the site back in 1742.

Initially there were two distilleries operating on this site, the first founded in 1816 called Kildalton, and the second in 1817 called Lagavulin. Lagavulin single malt whisky is characterized by a strong peat flavor and iodine nuances, finely represented by their workhorse, i.e. the 16 Years Old Whisky.
