William Grant & Sons Ltd. is a Scottish independent family-owned company that has been distilling and selecting whisky bottlings since 1887. Founded by William Grant, and now run by his own descendants, it is the third Scotch whisky bottler in the world, after Diageo and Pernod Ricard. The Master Distiller is Brian Kinsman, who succeeded David Stewart, who had been in his role for 47 years (the longest-running Master ever working for a single distillery).
In 1974, William Grant & Sons won the Queen's Award for Industry for Outstanding Achievement, the first Scottish company to receive this award. In 1999 he received the most prestigious recognition from the beverage industry, Distiller of the Year from the International Wine & Spirit Competition, also obtaining it the following year (never happened before that the same distiller won for two consecutive years). In 2004 they set the record of medals and seals of approval at the International Spirits Challenge: three gold medals, nine silver, ten bronze and seven seals of approval, for a total of 29.
Distillates have different alcoholpercentages. So, we have defined a parameter allowing you to better understand and compare different prices. This parameter is calculated by dividing the bottle price by the alcohol content. The alcohol content (or strength) is the amount of pure alcohol (ethanol) contained in the distillate.
This parameter indicates the price of a single 4cl dosage of distillate. It is calculated by dividing the price of the bottle by its quantity (expressed in cl), then multiplying by the centilitres of the recommended single dose, as average in cocktail recipes.
