Engenho da Vertente is located on the farm of Sitio Riberao Sao Paulo, in the rural area of Santo Antonio de Jardim, a town on the eastern tip of the state of Sao Paulo, about 200 km from the capital. The own sugar cane is harvested by hand. Fermentation takes place just with natural yeasts and without the use of any synthetic chemical. Distillation is processed by hand in copper stills in just 10,000 liters a year to ensure craftsmanship and the highest quality of the process.

Both varieties are kept at least 24 months in oak at a controlled temperature. The Engenho da Vertente range is divided into Blanca and Gold, aged in both pink and oak jequitibà for 24 months.
At the fazenda they love to shake their bottle and point out the quality through the bubbles that form on the surface, the so-called Rosary method: the larger and prolonged bubbles are, higher the quality of a distillate is.
Distillates have different alcoholpercentages. So, we have defined a parameter allowing you to better understand and compare different prices. This parameter is calculated by dividing the bottle price by the alcohol content. The alcohol content (or strength) is the amount of pure alcohol (ethanol) contained in the distillate.
This parameter indicates the price of a single 4cl dosage of distillate. It is calculated by dividing the price of the bottle by its quantity (expressed in cl), then multiplying by the centilitres of the recommended single dose, as average in cocktail recipes.
