Thanks to the intuition of the founder, for more than seventy years, in Carbet (Martinique Island), an exceptional area for the cultivation of sugar cane, the Bally Distillery produces its splendid aged rums. The Habitation Lajus has existed since 1670, and was bought in 1917 by Jacques Bally, who restructured it and built the distillery on the ruins of the small sucrerie, installing a steam engine and a creole column designed by himself.
From 1924 he systematically puts a part of his production into aging. In 1930 Jacques Bally designed and made the Pyramide bottle and the Carré bottle, and both are unchanged up to the present day. During the 50s and the 60s, Bally's Rhums have had the reputation of the best agricultural rhum in the world.
In 1976 Bally is produced by Saint James, always in the original créole column. In 1987, after the purchase of the brand by Yves Hayot, the column was moved to Le Simon. The brand regains possession of Saint James in 1997, but the exhausted column was not transferred. Saint James continues to produce Bally with a distinct process, both in terms of distillation and aging.
Distillates have different alcoholpercentages. So, we have defined a parameter allowing you to better understand and compare different prices. This parameter is calculated by dividing the bottle price by the alcohol content. The alcohol content (or strength) is the amount of pure alcohol (ethanol) contained in the distillate.
This parameter indicates the price of a single 4cl dosage of distillate. It is calculated by dividing the price of the bottle by its quantity (expressed in cl), then multiplying by the centilitres of the recommended single dose, as average in cocktail recipes.
