Glen Moray

Scotland - Speyside

The Glen Moray distillery is located next to Elgin on the banks of the Lossie River in the Speyside Scottish region. In 1897, following the "whiskey boom", Robert Thorne & Sons decided to close their brewery to turn it into a distillery. In 1920 Macdonald & Muir (at that time owner of Glenmorangie) bought Glen Moray for 12 thousand pounds and after three years of work managed to restart production. Since then the distillery has always been active, closing only due to force reasons during the Second World War.
