Nikka Yoichi

Japan

The Yoichi distillery was founded in 1934 by Masataka Taketsuru, precursor of the Japanese Whisky whose intent was to create a market thanks to the multiple climatic affinities between Scotland and Japan. The distillery was founded on the island of Hokkaido (therefore initially recognized with the name of Hokkaido Distillery) which was however totally arid and uninhabited ... ideal for the accumulation of peat, an exclusive element of a few areas in the Earth for the creation of pleasantly smoked whiskies.
