The history of the Guy Distillery, a famous French maison for the production of aniseed and absinthe liqueur in Pontarlier, is deeply linked to the geography of this village in the Franche Comtè region and to the family saga begun by Armand Guy in 1890. Technically trained at the Maitre Distillateur Vichet, Armand founded his distillery in the years in which the village of Pontarlier alone housed 23 distilleries, with 3,000 of the total 10,000 inhabitants hired in production.

His son Georges continues his work at the end of the First World War, refining the techniques for the production of the Pontarlier-Anis, in all respects identical to the family recipe of the Absinthe, if not for the absence of the same wormwood plant , prohibited at that time. The time frame marked by the interdiction of the plant will mark the return to the manufacture of aperitif drinks based on other medicinal herbs and to the study of what will later become the liqueur par excellence of Haut-Doubs: the Vrai Sapin, now known like Vert Sapin.
Distillates have different alcoholpercentages. So, we have defined a parameter allowing you to better understand and compare different prices. This parameter is calculated by dividing the bottle price by the alcohol content. The alcohol content (or strength) is the amount of pure alcohol (ethanol) contained in the distillate.
This parameter indicates the price of a single 4cl dosage of distillate. It is calculated by dividing the price of the bottle by its quantity (expressed in cl), then multiplying by the centilitres of the recommended single dose, as average in cocktail recipes.
