The Old Bushmills is a distillery located in the town of the same name, in County Antrim (Northern Ireland). The license to make distillates was issued to Mr. Thomas Phillipps in 1608 by the King.
Between 1802 and 1822 it was forced to close, until it changed hands in 1860 to Jame McColgan and Patrick Corrigan until it became a public limited company in 1880. In 1885, following a fire, all the original Bushmills buildings were destroyed and then rebuilt in a hurry.
In 1890, Bushmills Whiskeys landed in America and then in Singapore, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Yokohama. After the Second World War, the distillery was bought by Isaac Wolfson, and, in 1972, was taken over by the Irish distillers. In June 1988, however, it was a French liquor group Pernod Ricard that became its owner, and then sold it in June 2005 to Diageo for £ 200m.
Distillates have different alcoholpercentages. So, we have defined a parameter allowing you to better understand and compare different prices. This parameter is calculated by dividing the bottle price by the alcohol content. The alcohol content (or strength) is the amount of pure alcohol (ethanol) contained in the distillate.
This parameter indicates the price of a single 4cl dosage of distillate. It is calculated by dividing the price of the bottle by its quantity (expressed in cl), then multiplying by the centilitres of the recommended single dose, as average in cocktail recipes.
