Nikka Miyagikyo

Japan

Clean air, thermal springs, the right humidity for the aging of the woods and the pure water that flows from the subsoil. These were the characteristics that led Masataka Taketsuru, the visionary behind Japanese whiskies and founder of Nikka, to build the Miyagikyo distillery near Sendai in 1969. Originally known as the "Sendai distillery", it was the second to be founded after the distillery Yoichi of the company in Hokkaido.
