Karuizawa

Karuizawa

The Karuizawa distillery was built in 1955 in the namesake city, around the prefecture of Nagano surrounded by the Japanese Alps. Japanese whisky generally has an excellent reputation, but Karuizawa is particularly sought after and appreciated by connoisseurs, accumulating an impressive number of awards in the most recent competitions.

Just like Macallan, this is a whisky which really stems from the type of barley used, the Golden Promise, and from the Sherry cask aging. Production stopped in 2000, making bottles increasingly rare and sought after.
