Eleven years after the terrible earthquake that had already severely tested the country, the magnitude 7.2 earthquake that devastated Haiti on 14 August claimed the lives of thousands of people. The catastrophe also caused enormous material damage in many regions of the south, and it is in some of these areas that our partner producers of Clairin are located.
The Vaval and Casimir distilleries, in particular, were seriously affected. Fortunately, the producers and their families are safe and sound, but their working tools and their respective villages were seriously damaged, and the necessary reconstruction will be long and demanding.
In a country already weakened by an unstable political and humanitarian situation, The Spirit of Haiti decided to come to the aid of its local partners and their families by launching 2 single casks of Clairin Ansyen: Casimir Friends and Vaval Friends.
The entire proceeds from the sale of these products will be donated to the producers affected by the earthquake, in order to help them in a concrete way in the reconstruction of their infrastructure, so that they can continue to work every day.
The traditional clairins in The Spirit of Haiti selection are authentic expressions of terroir, true ambassadors of the various places where they were born. Without tangible and concrete means to ensure the reconstruction of the distilleries affected by the earthquake, the very existence of these unique products is at stake. Each bottle sold will help preserve the originality that makes clairins so typical of Haiti.
Haiti's motto - Unity is Strength - reaches its fullest sense in exceptional situations such as the one affecting the Haitian people right now: by purchasing a bottle of Clairin, your generosity can make a difference.
The bottles are on pre-sale, and will be shipped from 29/11/2021.
Distillates have different alcoholpercentages. So, we have defined a parameter allowing you to better understand and compare different prices. This parameter is calculated by dividing the bottle price by the alcohol content. The alcohol content (or strength) is the amount of pure alcohol (ethanol) contained in the distillate.
This parameter indicates the price of a single 4cl dosage of distillate. It is calculated by dividing the price of the bottle by its quantity (expressed in cl), then multiplying by the centilitres of the recommended single dose, as average in cocktail recipes.
