Jefferson Amaro Importante was born from an ancient recipe developed in 1871 by the scheming Captain Jefferson who, after surviving a shipwreck between Paola and Tropea, found refuge in the Old Customs Warehouse. Here he found inspiration for a blend of local botanicals and spices, which gave rise to the recipe for a unique bitter. Important, it has to be said.
Today, the Vecchio Magazzino Doganale follows the newly adapted original recipe, which includes IGP lemons from Rocca Imperiale, sweet and bitter oranges, bergamots from Pellaro, oregano and rosemary. Each botanical is processed separately, respecting seasonality, and then filtered through a linen cloth. The result is an intense bitter, rich in citrus, gentian and rosemary notes that then give way to sensations of sweet spices.
The authentic Mediterranean flavour of Jefferson Amaro Importante won the 2018 World's Drink Awards as the world's best herbal liqueur.
Distillates have different alcoholpercentages. So, we have defined a parameter allowing you to better understand and compare different prices. This parameter is calculated by dividing the bottle price by the alcohol content. The alcohol content (or strength) is the amount of pure alcohol (ethanol) contained in the distillate.
This parameter indicates the price of a single 4cl dosage of distillate. It is calculated by dividing the price of the bottle by its quantity (expressed in cl), then multiplying by the centilitres of the recommended single dose, as average in cocktail recipes.
