Mostly argues that Rum was invented in Barbados during the 17th century, when plantation workers experienced fermentation of molasses, a by-product of sugar production, in alcohol. The first batches were not known for their quality, in fact the first Barbados rums were called devil killings.

Over time, distillation practices have improved significantly and Barbados Rum has become famous both in Europe and in America.
St. Nicholas Abbey has a long tradition of producing rums and the Warren family has rebuilt the plantation distillery as part of the restoration process. One of the four Barbados distilleries, St. Nicholas Abbey avoided mass production and complex mechanical systems in favor of the traditional distillation process that made Barbados rum famous over 350 years ago.
In addition to a century-old tradition, this distillery can boast the greatest honors among the most renowned rum contest in the world including the San Francisco World Spirit Competition and the International Wine & Spirit Competition.
Distillates have different alcoholpercentages. So, we have defined a parameter allowing you to better understand and compare different prices. This parameter is calculated by dividing the bottle price by the alcohol content. The alcohol content (or strength) is the amount of pure alcohol (ethanol) contained in the distillate.
This parameter indicates the price of a single 4cl dosage of distillate. It is calculated by dividing the price of the bottle by its quantity (expressed in cl), then multiplying by the centilitres of the recommended single dose, as average in cocktail recipes.
