It is 2007: a group of friends decide to take over the 200 hectares surrounding a last century farm in Vermont, with the desire to modernise it and turn it into a distillery. Eight hectares of maple forest are used for syrup production, animals are purchased: horses, sheep, goats, bees and above all Kunekune pigs, whose pair of champions gives the inspiration for the name WhistlePig.
.
A sore point, the rye fields within the property do not allow for whiskey distillation. What to do? The turning point comes when Dave Pickerell, the legendary Master Blender considered to be the father of craft distillation in the United States, shows up and falls in love with the crazy WhistlePig idea. It is he who discovers in Canada a 10-year-old stock of rye whiskey, abandoned and unused, and it is he who gets it to the WhistlePig team, allowing the adventure to begin.

Released in 2015, the WhistlePig Small Batch Rye 10 Years Old was born from that treasure found by chance: aged in virgin American oak barrels, it is the first label produced by the distillery. A rye whiskey with a strong, spicy character that wins over category juries and enthuses enthusiasts.
Dave Pickerell's contribution to WhistlePig's success is not limited to finding the treasure, but sees him actively involved both as Master Distiller and in the creation of the distillery's copper stills. It is also thanks to him, therefore, that the second release arrives: WhistlePig 12 Years Old World Rye: the first blend matured in American oak casks, with ageing in 3 different types of casks: Port (7%), French Sauternes (30%) and Madeira (63%). A unique product, which won a double gold medal at the 2015 San Francisco World Spirit Competition.
.
Following the death of Dave Pickerell in 2018, a painful event for the entire distilling world, WhistlePig decided to remain faithful to his teachings, thus paying homage to the past without being afraid to experiment while looking to the future.
From this inspiration comes WhistlePig 15 Years Old Estate Oak Rye, the distillery's first product left to age for over 10 years in Vermont Estate Oak casks: a trippy blend of spice, sugar, oak and citrus scents.
They are the first to be produced in the world of distilling.

WhistlePig The Boss Hog is one of the most eagerly awaited annual rye whiskey releases by a crowd of enthusiasts and collectors around the world.
The first release was released in 2013, and from the outset the aim was to offer an annual reference that representedthe distillery's highest quality expression, both in the area of raw material and experimentation.
This Straight Rye Whiskey is the eighth eagerly awaited release: it is a rye whiskey of great complexity, which has been expertly aged for 18 years in virgin American oak barrels, and then double-aged in toasted barrels that previously contained a small-batch, single-island aged rum from the Philippines.
Rye is very difficult to grow and takes time to mature to its full potential and express itself.
WhistlePig As for another complex challenge, ageing, WhistlePig has gone to great lengths to find the most interesting casks, creating one with Vermont white oak that grows on the farm.
Once the whiskey has been left to rest, the most difficult stage of the whole production process begins: the waiting.
Distillates have different alcoholpercentages. So, we have defined a parameter allowing you to better understand and compare different prices. This parameter is calculated by dividing the bottle price by the alcohol content. The alcohol content (or strength) is the amount of pure alcohol (ethanol) contained in the distillate.
This parameter indicates the price of a single 4cl dosage of distillate. It is calculated by dividing the price of the bottle by its quantity (expressed in cl), then multiplying by the centilitres of the recommended single dose, as average in cocktail recipes.
