La Mauny 1979 43% is a vintage rum from Martinique shrouded in a touch of mystery: there are, in fact, several versions available, in bottles and carafes, with no official indication of age. Some sources suggest around 10 years of ageing, others a shorter period, but tasting does not seem to reveal any significant differences between the different formats.
In the glass, it displays an amber colour with coppery highlights and an intense, elegant and indulgent aromatic profile. On the nose, ripe exotic fruit, banana, mango, vanilla, cinnamon, dried tobacco, liquorice and cocoa emerge, accompanied by delicate, slightly smoky oak. On the palate, it is oily, rich and rather dry, dominated by spiced oak, candied fruit, sugar cane and light vegetal notes. The finish is long and persistent, with hints of liquorice, eucalyptus and caramelised fruit.
Distillates have different alcoholpercentages. So, we have defined a parameter allowing you to better understand and compare different prices. This parameter is calculated by dividing the bottle price by the alcohol content. The alcohol content (or strength) is the amount of pure alcohol (ethanol) contained in the distillate.
This parameter indicates the price of a single 4cl dosage of distillate. It is calculated by dividing the price of the bottle by its quantity (expressed in cl), then multiplying by the centilitres of the recommended single dose, as average in cocktail recipes.
