The blended whiskey Metropolis by Compass Box is the third release in the Extinct Blends Quartet series, a limited series that the distillery has created to evoke the old blends of the late 21st century.
The Compass Box Metropolis Extinct Blends Quartet was made from a blend of different whiskies, some very aged and very prestigious, aged in American oak, ex-sherry and ex-bourbon barrels.
A very refined and elegant precious whisky, rich and complex on both nose and palate.
With this collection Compass Box wanted to reinvent some past blends, using small parts of very aged whiskies. Metropolis represents the city environment, chaotic, crowded, multicultural, constantly changing and shaped by trends. That same city environment in which blended scoth whisky historically originated, and in which it still lives on as a protagonist.
Distillates have different alcoholpercentages. So, we have defined a parameter allowing you to better understand and compare different prices. This parameter is calculated by dividing the bottle price by the alcohol content. The alcohol content (or strength) is the amount of pure alcohol (ethanol) contained in the distillate.
This parameter indicates the price of a single 4cl dosage of distillate. It is calculated by dividing the price of the bottle by its quantity (expressed in cl), then multiplying by the centilitres of the recommended single dose, as average in cocktail recipes.
