Back in1988, Genovese bottler Moon Import selected single Hogshead number 4743 and included it in The Costumes series, which today, 35 years later, is considered one of the most exciting gems in the history of independent selections. A body of work, that of the Italian single cask pioneers, that photographed and encapsulated in a few, damnably rare bottles a lost golden age of Scotch whisky. Production methods and cask quality have changed, and so many distilleries have lost that unselfconsciously artisanal approach that made it possible to enhance and reward the insights of the great Italian noses of the latter 20th century.
The appeal of this Glen Mhor, of which only 264 bottles were filled, then also stems from the fact that the Inverness distillery of the same name closed its doors for good in 1983, making it very difficult to find its single malt on the market.
Distillates have different alcoholpercentages. So, we have defined a parameter allowing you to better understand and compare different prices. This parameter is calculated by dividing the bottle price by the alcohol content. The alcohol content (or strength) is the amount of pure alcohol (ethanol) contained in the distillate.
This parameter indicates the price of a single 4cl dosage of distillate. It is calculated by dividing the price of the bottle by its quantity (expressed in cl), then multiplying by the centilitres of the recommended single dose, as average in cocktail recipes.
