Beenleigh is the oldest distillery in Australia, its history begins in 1865 when two Englishmen, John Davy and Francis Gooding, bought 300 acres of land facing the Albert River. Around the same time, a man named James Stewart, known as "The Bosun", ran a floating sugar refinery aboard the S.S. Walrus, a sailboat converted to a steamboat, which sailed along the Albert and Logan Rivers.

He soon discovered how to use excess molasses, producing rum in secret. One day, in 1884 the SS Walrus was found on the shores with no one on board, except the copper pot still by James "The Bosun" Stewart, thus Beenleigh Artisan Distillery was born, so named in honor of the homeland of Davy and Gooding in England.
Beenleigh production begins with Queensland sugar cane: the molasses is fermented for a long time by a yeast selected from an exclusive strain of the distillery. The must obtained at the grade of 8 ° vol undergoes a first distillation in a continuous column while the second takes place in a 15,000 liter copper pot still, with a long distillation cycle that lasts about 12 hours.
Distillates have different alcoholpercentages. So, we have defined a parameter allowing you to better understand and compare different prices. This parameter is calculated by dividing the bottle price by the alcohol content. The alcohol content (or strength) is the amount of pure alcohol (ethanol) contained in the distillate.
This parameter indicates the price of a single 4cl dosage of distillate. It is calculated by dividing the price of the bottle by its quantity (expressed in cl), then multiplying by the centilitres of the recommended single dose, as average in cocktail recipes.
