Palenque Madrecuishe Gregorio Martinez is an agave distillate made from maguey madrecuishe. Producer Eduardo Martinez, based in San Baltazar Guelavila, Tlacolula, Oaxaca, has continued the legacy of his father Gregorio, who had already joined the Palenque project. This project is the brainchild of Luca Gargano, who has involved six producers from different villages in the state of Oaxaca, as well as project coordinator Hector Vazquez. The idea is to create a map of the terroir of Oaxaca, the different species of agave and the conditions in which they grow. The producers' approach is artisanal, with a few innovations, but they focus on the quality of the agave, the soil and the production process, each based on their own personal recipe.
This Palenque has a rich nose of fresh citrus and floral aromas, with hints of peach, strawberry and caramel. On the palate, cereal and leavened bread notes dominate, with an astringent touch that leads to a more herbaceous flavour that fades into the sweetness of toast.
Distillates have different alcoholpercentages. So, we have defined a parameter allowing you to better understand and compare different prices. This parameter is calculated by dividing the bottle price by the alcohol content. The alcohol content (or strength) is the amount of pure alcohol (ethanol) contained in the distillate.
This parameter indicates the price of a single 4cl dosage of distillate. It is calculated by dividing the price of the bottle by its quantity (expressed in cl), then multiplying by the centilitres of the recommended single dose, as average in cocktail recipes.
