Mother Mesccia is a white Pure Single Rum of excellence born from the encounter between Haitian terroir and Monegasque craftsmanship and inspired by an ancient tradition of the Principality of Monaco: it represents the modern reinterpretation of the historic"mesccia", a blend of Caribbean rum brought to Monaco by Genoese sailors and European spirits such as vermouth and Marsala since the 17th century.
Today, the Principality and Velier revive that tradition in a modern key, producing a high-quality rum no longer blended, but aged in ex-Vermouth and ex-Marsala barrels. The white distillate thus represents the'mother' from which the future cask-aged mesccia will evolve, and for this reason it has been named Mother Mesccia.
The rum is produced from the prized Crystalline sugar cane, grown in the Grand Cru of Saint-Michel-de-l'Attalaye in Haiti. The production process involves a long fermentation of the pure cane juice with wild yeasts, followed by an initial distillation in a bain-marie in a discontinuous still directly at the distillery in Port-au-Prince. The semi-finished product, with an alcohol content that varies from year to year, is then transferred to Monaco-Montecarlo, where the second distillation takes place in a Khote still at L'Orangerie / Distillerie de Monaco. It is at this final stage that the distinctive character of the rum is defined.

The last frontier of rum can be found in Haiti with Clairin. Made from artisanal distillations, this distillate is considered the only natural rum in the world-not coincidentally, Clairin actually means...

Discovered by the West following on from the Spanish, French and English conquests of the Indies, rum was originally a slave and seafarer drink. Used as bait by pirates in their attempts to get the...
Distillates have different alcoholpercentages. So, we have defined a parameter allowing you to better understand and compare different prices. This parameter is calculated by dividing the bottle price by the alcohol content. The alcohol content (or strength) is the amount of pure alcohol (ethanol) contained in the distillate.
This parameter indicates the price of a single 4cl dosage of distillate. It is calculated by dividing the price of the bottle by its quantity (expressed in cl), then multiplying by the centilitres of the recommended single dose, as average in cocktail recipes.
