Located on the southern shores of the inlet of Loch Indaal, Bowmore is one of the pearls of the island of Islay, Scotland's so-called 'peat island'.
Of the nine plants currently in operation, pending the reopening of Port Ellen, the distillery owned by the Beam-Suntory group is the oldest, and also one of those most sought after by enthusiasts. Not only do they vie at auction for the most iconic bottlings (from Black Bowmore to Bicentenary), but they are also always on the lookout for limited releases.
Like, for example, this single malt distilled in 1989 and bottled in 2013 in 12,000 pieces, after spending 23 years in a cask that had contained Port and that gives the whisky sweet and persuasive notes of chocolate and red fruits, blood oranges and barbecue ribs.
Distillates have different alcoholpercentages. So, we have defined a parameter allowing you to better understand and compare different prices. This parameter is calculated by dividing the bottle price by the alcohol content. The alcohol content (or strength) is the amount of pure alcohol (ethanol) contained in the distillate.
This parameter indicates the price of a single 4cl dosage of distillate. It is calculated by dividing the price of the bottle by its quantity (expressed in cl), then multiplying by the centilitres of the recommended single dose, as average in cocktail recipes.
