Benriach is a traditional Scottish stone-built, pagoda-roofed distillery with an enchanting atmosphere. Getting lost in the Scottish Speyside countryside, not far from the town of Elgin, and stumbling across the distillery is a once-in-a-lifetime experience for everyone.
After a long period of closure and a past as a producer of Blended Whisky recipes, Benriach now bottles around 70% of its production as Single Malts. This is an exceptional fact, which immediately shows how the distillery has focused on the quality of its whiskies over the years.

Speyside's latest treasure from the Cask Edition range
Benriach 25 Y.O. 1997 is a Single Cask personally selected by Master Blender Rachel Barrie from the vast and eclectic collection of casks that help make up the Cask Edition range.
Each one is chosen for the exceptional aromas and character that make it unique, and each one helps to celebrate a different aspect of Benriach's personality.
Distilled in July 1997, Single Cask #7427 has rested 25 years in virgin oak casks. Unfiltered cold, limited edition.
The nose has hints of caramel, blueberry muffin and dried apple, combining with delicate spicy wood, fresh ginger and apricot. The palate is rich with blueberry and raspberry with custard, chocolate and caramel notes.

Benriach was founded back in 1898, but its history is curious. The distillery was the victim of unfortunate timing and only remained operational for two years before a dark period for the whole whisky industry caught up with it and forced it to shut down its stills until 1965. However, throughout this time the malting floors remained active and provided malted barley for nearby Longmorn. A small track was even built between the two buildings to transport the grain.

This activity ensured Benriach's survival and when distilling resumed, it became clear that an amazing distillery had been reborn on Speyside. Since 1970 they have been distilling peat barley again, a style that is unusual for single malts in the area, and since the 1990s they have also been producing triple-distilled batches. Another great surprise is the reopening in 2012 of the historic malting floor, once so important and now finally put back at the centre of the production process at certain times of the year. Finally, in recent years Benriach has amazed enthusiasts by creating whiskies aged in a large number of different casks, exploring new worlds of taste and redefining the boundaries of Single Malt Whisky with courage and pioneering spirit.

At the end of 2020 Benriach launched a new core range of whiskies and it was no surprise to find a very diverse range. The 10-year is a 'three cask matured', with ex-Bourbon, Sherry and Virgin Oak casks, while the 12-year also sees the use of some Port casks. The 10 year old and 12 year old peaty wines raise the level of creativity with fat, earthy and smoky notes, but also by incorporating Jamaican Rum and Marsala casks into the recipe, respectively. A babel of influences that brings complex and intense pleasures to the glass. The most aged whiskies, 21, 25 and 30 years old, increase in size and are created from a combination of four different casks. Are you up for the challenge?

Everyone knows that Benriach has great hidden treasures because barrels covering sixty years of distilling, ever since the distillery reopened its doors in 1965, still rest in its cellars. This impressive historical arsenal is put to the test by the genius of Benriach's whisky makers, who travel the world searching for oak casks in every corner of the globe and have assembled one of the most eclectic cask selections to be found anywhere in Scotland. In addition to the classic ex-Bourbon and ex-Sherry casks, they use barrels that have contained Rum, Madeira, Marsala, Port and many types of red wine. Thus history and experimentation come together in both the most important whiskies and in common expressions defining an eclectic style. Moreover, the possibility of having batches of peat barley and others of whisky distilled three times makes this adventure even more exciting, multiplying to infinity the possible worlds that Benriach is able to generate.
Distillates have different alcoholpercentages. So, we have defined a parameter allowing you to better understand and compare different prices. This parameter is calculated by dividing the bottle price by the alcohol content. The alcohol content (or strength) is the amount of pure alcohol (ethanol) contained in the distillate.
This parameter indicates the price of a single 4cl dosage of distillate. It is calculated by dividing the price of the bottle by its quantity (expressed in cl), then multiplying by the centilitres of the recommended single dose, as average in cocktail recipes.
