With Kavalan, the first and only whisky made in Taiwan, the world of single malts has witnessed a new revolution of considerable interest coming from the East. Winner of the Best Non-Scottish Whisky according to the Whisky Magazine of 2010, the distillery obtained one of the highest awards in the category, beating three products from some of the most historicScottish distilleries during the annual blind tasting of Burns Night in Leith.

With the support of Jim Swan, the distillery produced its first drop in March 2006 and began marketing its products in December 2008. As an absolute geographical peculiarity, the Kavalan distillery is nestled between the Yilan Mountains and the sea, with access to very pure waters. When the mist from the Pacific Ocean interacts with the mountain winds, the resulting air currents increase the transpiration of the casks, accelerating the speed at which the whisky matures.
The uniqueness of this microclimate is responsible for the strength of all the whiskies in the range, primarily the cask-strength bottled Solist. With an impressive assortment that combines ex-bourbon maturations with sherry oak expressions and special single cask editions, Kavalan is poised to become one of the most interesting whisky frontiers to the east of Scotland.

As part of its 65th anniversary selection, LMDW honours the distilleries that have helped make it a benchmark in the world of spirits.
In 2013, it launched Kavalan in Europe and in just eight years became the world's most awarded malt distillery.
The Sherry cask selected for one of the bottlings is one of the oldest still available at the distillery, having been distilled in 2008. It is accompanied by a cask of Port from 2011, a Virgin Oak from 2009, one of the distillery's great specialities, and finally a peat malt from 2015.

Distillates have different alcoholpercentages. So, we have defined a parameter allowing you to better understand and compare different prices. This parameter is calculated by dividing the bottle price by the alcohol content. The alcohol content (or strength) is the amount of pure alcohol (ethanol) contained in the distillate.
This parameter indicates the price of a single 4cl dosage of distillate. It is calculated by dividing the price of the bottle by its quantity (expressed in cl), then multiplying by the centilitres of the recommended single dose, as average in cocktail recipes.
