For the first time in 305 years, the Dutch import company Scheer, in collaboration with the Italian Velier, has agreed to put the name of its brand on a label within a revolutionary project for the Rum world: a double release which gives the chance to compare two Jamaican Rums, produced in the same distillery, aged for the same time but in two different areas.
One is aged in the tropical climate of birth, in Jamaica. The other, instead, in the English continental climate, precisely in Liverpool.
These are two Vatted Single Rums, distilled in Pot Still at the Monymusk Distillery.
The Tropical Aging is a blend of 10 casks of MMW 2007 and 2 casks of MMW 2008, totally aged in Jamaica (Esters: 315.6 gr/hpla).
The Continental Aging is a blend of 10 casks of MMW 2007 and 2 casks of MMW 2008 totally aged in Europe (Esters: 243.5 gr/hpla).
The tasting of these two blends offers the incredible possibility of noticing the differences between tropical and continental aging. In the former, in fact, the faster evaporation of the distillate makes it more complex, enhancing the aromatic range but reducing quantity. The second, instead, enjoys more rigid temperatures during aging which considerably reduce the percentage of angel share.
Come to discover even the version aged 14 years old in Plummer style.
Distillates have different alcoholpercentages. So, we have defined a parameter allowing you to better understand and compare different prices. This parameter is calculated by dividing the bottle price by the alcohol content. The alcohol content (or strength) is the amount of pure alcohol (ethanol) contained in the distillate.
This parameter indicates the price of a single 4cl dosage of distillate. It is calculated by dividing the price of the bottle by its quantity (expressed in cl), then multiplying by the centilitres of the recommended single dose, as average in cocktail recipes.
