Providence is a project initiated by Luca Gargano, who for years had dreamed of reproducing a discontinuous distillation rum in Haiti as Barbancourt was until 1992.

It was a dream come true in November 2019 when Distillerie du Port au Prince began producing Providence First Drops, a rum made from Cristalline sugar cane syrup from the grand terroir of Saint Michel de l'Attalaye, to which fresh cane juice is added.

Providence rum marks the return of discontinuous distillation to Haiti's capital city, with a still designed by Gianni Vittorio Capovilla and made by Müller, one of the largest ever made by the German engineer. It features a main boiler and a small 8-pot column.

The distillation is skilfully orchestrated by Herbert Linge, son of Jane Barbancourt, the true last heir to the family of the eponymous rum.
Distillates have different alcoholpercentages. So, we have defined a parameter allowing you to better understand and compare different prices. This parameter is calculated by dividing the bottle price by the alcohol content. The alcohol content (or strength) is the amount of pure alcohol (ethanol) contained in the distillate.
This parameter indicates the price of a single 4cl dosage of distillate. It is calculated by dividing the price of the bottle by its quantity (expressed in cl), then multiplying by the centilitres of the recommended single dose, as average in cocktail recipes.
