Type: Single Malt Whisky
The master blender of Amrut personally follows this version, left to age in sherry barrels then refined for about a year in bourbon barrels ... a layer of sherry in a sandwich between two slices of bourbon!
The Amrut style is preserved, intact; a full, powerful, mineral and spicy attack, followed by sweetness and lightness.
• Color: ancient gold with orange shades.
• Fragrance; wide and very sweet at the beginning, rapidly turning on spices (pepper, nutmeg, ginger). It goes later to light coffee and durmast scents. That is the moment in which it become bourbon. Coriander, candied apricots and pecan corroborate this sensation. Spices become hot.
• Taste: vivid and firm. Macerated fruit (cherries under alcohol, red berries) and gingerbread make it similar to a sweet sherry taste. Dried fruit (almonds, dates, nuts) and dark chocolate increase this sensation. Taste is also spotted with tobacco and intoxicating flowers (iris and tuberous).
• Aftertaste is long and powdered. Cocoa beans, Corinth raisins, cardamon and dried flowers (mimosa, gorse) anticipate fresh cut herbs and vanilla scents. Durmast and sweet spices (cinnamon, fresh ginger) return at the end.
