Kilchoman Loch Gorm 2023 Cognac Cask: an unprecedented marriage
Kilchoman Loch Gorm whisky is an annual release that is normally matured in ex-Sherry casks. The 2023 release, on the other hand, is Cognac Cask, and was aged for at least 6 years in 32 casks from the Tonnellerie Bossuet that contained cognac. The nose is very fruity, with freshness of pear, apple, pineapple and currant sweetening the peat. The palate is spicy with notes of citrus and apple, roasted nuts and wood, against a smoky background. The finish is persistent and balsamic, with vegetal tones of nuts and fruit.
