Southern hemisphere, east of Madagascar, in the middle of the Indian Ocean: we are on the volcanic Île de la Réunion, a French Overseas Protectorate, surrounded by wild and exuberant nature. The dominant sugar cane on the island is the R570, and thanks to its three large sugar mills Réunion is a major sugar producer.

The one that supplies Savanna is Bois Rouge, adjacent to the distillery for which the raw material of the rum is directly decided together with the sugar mill.
The uniqueness of Savanna is that it is the only distillery in the world that produces from both raw materials, cane juice and molasses, developing from the latter not only the normal 'Traditionnel' but also the Grand Arôme style.
This style, which has now almost disappeared in the Caribbean, is a molasses rum produced with long and very special fermentations and with a congeners content of over 800 g / HLAP and a minimum ester content of 500 g / HLAP.
Rhum Grand Arôme has very intense and above all unique flavours, for special blends or to be enjoyed neat.
Master distiller Laurent Broc, deus ex machina of the distillery, is one of the greatest connoisseurs of rum precisely because he knows all types and is very eclectic in experimenting with them. Also with regard to ageing, Laurent has designed and produced a structure of pipes and valves that connect all the barrels containing the youngest rums, in order to move the liquid very frequently during the first 18 months in large barrels to find balance and aeration.
Distillates have different alcoholpercentages. So, we have defined a parameter allowing you to better understand and compare different prices. This parameter is calculated by dividing the bottle price by the alcohol content. The alcohol content (or strength) is the amount of pure alcohol (ethanol) contained in the distillate.
This parameter indicates the price of a single 4cl dosage of distillate. It is calculated by dividing the price of the bottle by its quantity (expressed in cl), then multiplying by the centilitres of the recommended single dose, as average in cocktail recipes.
