Straight from Mauritius, Habitation Velier presents an extraordinary release produced by the Rhumerie de Chamarel, founded in 2008 by the Couacaud family. Made from pure sugarcane juice, sourced from three different local varieties grown on the estate’s 220 hectares, this rum honours tradition and supports the island’s economy.
The production process follows a fascinating and rare method: after two days of fermentation, the distillate undergoes double distillation in two 20 HL pot stills, a technique borrowed from the Cognac tradition which imparts an exceptionally rich and aromatic structure.
The eight-year ageing process in ex-cognac casks is an absolute world first, resulting in an elegant, complex and deep Pure Single Rum.
