The Single Malt Glenmorangie 12 Year Calvados Cask is the fifth release in the Barrel Select series, a collection of research around the use and combination of rare casks.
Bill Lumsden, head of distillation, chose casks never before used by Glenmorangie for this release after being won over by the fruity smoothness of Calvados. For this reason, Dr Lumsden selected a small batch of whisky aged for 10 years in ex-bourbon American white oak casks, and transferred it to barrels that had contained Calvados du Pays d'Auge for 20 years, leaving it to age for 2 years.
The Single Malt Glenmorangie 12 Y.O. Calvados Cask has a very fragrant nose, with notes of baked apples, pears, vanilla, almonds and a delicate tinge of wax.The palate is oily yet spicy, with an explosion of sweet flavours, with notes of pear, caramelised apple, marzipan, star anise and chocolate, overlaid with lemon, eucalyptus and a touch of charcoal. The finish is persistent and gently refreshing.

Glenmorangie's Barrel Select Release series comprises small batch bottlings that explore the flavours derived from different barrel finishes.
The first release in the series was the sweet and rich Glenmorangie Malaga Cask Finish, a 12-year-old whisky finished in Spanish Malaga wine casks. The second release was Glenmorangie Cognac Cask Finish, an elegantly oaky and fruity 13-year-old whisky finished in Cognac casks. Glenmorangie Palo Cortado Finish was the third release in the series. This deeply sweet and nutty 12-year-old bottling was the first Glenmorangie to be finished in rare Palo Cortado sherry casks. The fourth release was the Glenmorangie Amontillado Finish, nutty and spicy, inspired by Dr Bill's favourite style of sherry. Floral and delicately fruity,
Glenmorangie Calvados Cask Finish is the fifth Barrel Select version.

Glenmorangie is a perfect example of a distillery with an important history, with the first stills lit in 1843, but which in the last 30 years has pushed hard for innovation. The starting point is a solid...
Distillates have different alcoholpercentages. So, we have defined a parameter allowing you to better understand and compare different prices. This parameter is calculated by dividing the bottle price by the alcohol content. The alcohol content (or strength) is the amount of pure alcohol (ethanol) contained in the distillate.
This parameter indicates the price of a single 4cl dosage of distillate. It is calculated by dividing the price of the bottle by its quantity (expressed in cl), then multiplying by the centilitres of the recommended single dose, as average in cocktail recipes.
