Karuizawa is a legendary Japanese distillery, founded in 1955 on the slopes of Mount Asama and closed for good in 2000. Its tiny production was characterised by the use of Scottish barley, a weighty spirit style and often very active sherry casks. The few remaining barrels have become objects of pure cult, sought after by collectors worldwide.
