Calvados is the apple cider spirit known throughout the world as one of the finest and most important spirits, and perhaps the most complex expression of French terroir. Naturally elegant and delicately perfumed, it lends itself to many uses. When consumed cheerfully and in moderation, Calvados offers nothing but pleasure, conviviality and harmony among friends.
However, although Calvados enjoys an unparalleled reputation for excellence, it remains less well-known than many other spirits.
In The Calvados Guide, internationally renowned Calvados producer Christian Drouin reveals the many secrets of the iconic Norman brandy by answering some frequently asked questions: What is Calvados? Why is it unique? Where can it be produced and what is its history? Where does the name Calvados come from? Who are its producers? When and how should it be consumed? How does one choose one? What role did it play in social, political and economic life from its appearance to the end of the Middle Ages?
Drouin devotes special attention to the various modes of consumption, from the traditional café-calva and Trou Normand to classic and modern cocktails. Over 40 cocktail recipes from the world's best bartenders offer endless inspiration for mixing and experimentation, while almost a dozen recipes for easy-to-prepare Calvados-based dishes evoke the great culinary tradition of Normandy.

Distillates have different alcoholpercentages. So, we have defined a parameter allowing you to better understand and compare different prices. This parameter is calculated by dividing the bottle price by the alcohol content. The alcohol content (or strength) is the amount of pure alcohol (ethanol) contained in the distillate.
This parameter indicates the price of a single 4cl dosage of distillate. It is calculated by dividing the price of the bottle by its quantity (expressed in cl), then multiplying by the centilitres of the recommended single dose, as average in cocktail recipes.
