Masataka Taketsuru, father of Japanese whiskey, is the founder of the Nikka Company, famous for its two distilleries Yoichi and Miyagikyo.
The oldest of these, Yoichi, went into business in 1934 and is located on the island of Hokkaido; the climate, exposure to the sea and the quality of the water were key factors in the choice of location. Double distillation in a "Scottish style" copper alembic and a process uniqueness that is difficult to find in other modern whiskey distilleries, heating over direct fire fueled by coal.
Yoichi Discovery No Peated represents a sensational break from the tradition of this distillery, which normally produces single malts with a strong peaty character, which make them almost confused with those of the island of Islay. This non-peaty version has very malty, fruity and spicy notes, reminiscent of the Scottish regions of Speyside and Lowlands.
Distillates have different alcoholpercentages. So, we have defined a parameter allowing you to better understand and compare different prices. This parameter is calculated by dividing the bottle price by the alcohol content. The alcohol content (or strength) is the amount of pure alcohol (ethanol) contained in the distillate.
This parameter indicates the price of a single 4cl dosage of distillate. It is calculated by dividing the price of the bottle by its quantity (expressed in cl), then multiplying by the centilitres of the recommended single dose, as average in cocktail recipes.
